V.T.C. Lives !

For now.

MARSHFIELD, Vt. (AP) — Following an outcry from students, instructors and legislators, the head of the struggling Vermont State Colleges system on Wednesday withdrew his proposal to close three campuses because of added financial troubles from the coronavirus outbreak.

The college system’s board of trustees heard from thousands of people in emails and two online meetings who opposed the proposal that Chancellor Jeb Spaulding had introduced on Friday.

“Our Board of Trustees heard loud and clear from thousands of students, employees, communities, and the State’s elected leadership and determined that my recommendations would be damaging on many levels and would not be acceptable. I accept their judgement,” Spaulding said in a written statement

Of course the Money pit will continue to be very deep.

The four-college system, which has been struggling for years with declining enrollment, low state funding and other problems, is facing a deficit this school year of between $7 million and $10 million, including $5.6 million in refunds of room and board fees and moving to online learning.

This year’s deficit includes the expected $3 million in federal assistance. Next year’s deficit could reach $12 million

Vermont Tech at least provided the S.T.E.M courses that are actually useful to students who are attempting to carve out a career that just might earn them a decent living.

Concerning declining enrollment, besides parents having fewer children another factor is that public schools are required to be “WOKE” . This requires male students to be metaphorically castrated starting in kindergarden all the way through 12th grade. It’s fine that female students are encouraged to have careers in technology. But it’s obvious this ‘encouragement’ hasn’t been extended to male students for quite a while. How many more (male) students would be enrolled V.T.C. if it wasn’t for all this “SJW” bullshit. One can only imagine.

V.T.C. is closing ?(!)

Vermont Technical College - Randolph Center, Vermont

This is hard to believe but then again perhaps not.

Vermont State Colleges could close three campuses and cut hundreds of employees as part of a system-wide transformation in light of financial losses from the COVID-19 pandemic. The recommendation came from Vermont State Colleges System Chacellor Jeb Spaulding on Friday. As part of Spaulding’s plan, the residential campuses of Northern Vermont University in Lyndon and Johnson would be closed and their liberal arts programs would be transferred to Castleton University. Furthermore, the Randolph Center campus of Vermont Technical College would close,   consolidating to locations in Williston and throughout Vermont prior to the 2020-21 academic year.

I graduated from V.T.C. back in the mid seventies. My class numbered 188 people of which only 12 were women. Needless to say you didn’t go to V.T.C. for the social life. Even way back then women were being encouraged to take S.T.E.M. courses. Many women chose not too. Much to my disapointment.

As of now the COVID-19 pandemic may be looked at as the coup-de-gras to the social rot that has been building for decades. Liberal/progressive policies that have degenerating business (job creation), the family (save the planet, don’t have children), Men (white men in particualr), and havin faith in something higher than ourselves.

Things have changed a lot in the past 45 years…

Our K-12 government schools are now little more then Marxist indoctrination centers, the teachers have become political commissars. Their main mission statment being: white people are racist (BLM), and we’ve only 12 years to save the planet (lets go on strike and disrupt peoples lives ).

And of course..Students also now have the ability to attend college on-line, which makes brick and mortar buildings like classrooms, dormitories, auditoriums, libraries and cafeterias rather superfluous.

A shrinking pool of young people, anemic job growth and opportunities, high taxes, political correctness, this outcome was inevitable.

It’s a beautiful campus. It will be a shame to see it empty, its sports teams extinct. The hundreds of jobs lost.

And they taught real world stuff there, none of this safe space politically correct B.S..

Vermont Technical College 1866-2020. Sad.

Remember when teachers were worthy of respect.

I had an Aunt who was a teacher. She had taught in one room school houses,  grades 1-8.  She took pride in her profession.

But that was back in the stone age. Back when the day started with the ““Pledge of Allegiance”

and God had not yet been kicked out of the classroom.

Long ago they taught reading, writing, (and grammar)  arithmetic,  geography, civil government… They taught  more by eight grade the most college graduates know today.

Then there’s John Dewey  and the Frankfurt School who’s philosophies on indoctrinating teachers who in turn indoctrinate their students, in Cultural Marxism and to become a society without belief.  Did I mention also the indoctrination of Climate Change?

Middlebury College  is now a $74,000 a year (adult?) daycare center providing “safe spaces” so little snowflakes won’t melt.

When I was in High School a “69” was a big fat “F”. ( I know from personal experience). Not anymore.

The also told us to “question everything”.  How quaint. Now of course everything is “settled”.  Now bow down to your betters.

It’s been said that only “White People” can be Racist

Let’s meet Ms. Sarah Jeong.

Born in South Korea in 1988, came to U.S.A. when she was three.

Now here is a little background of the country of her birth.

Although a variety of different Asian peoples had migrated to the Korean Peninsula in past centuries, few have remained permanently, so by 1990 both South Korea and North Korea numbered among the world’s most ethnically homogeneous nations. The indigenous minorities population amounted to negligible number. In South Korea, people of foreign origin, including Westerners, Chinese, and Japanese, amounted to a small percentage of the population who generally resided in the country temporarily.

Like their Japanese neighbors, Koreans tend to equate nationality or citizenship with membership in a single, homogeneous ethnic group or “race” (minjok, in Korean). Koreans view a common language and culture as important elements in Korean identity. The idea of multiracial or multi-ethnic nations, like India or the United States, strikes many Koreans as odd or even contradictory.

Now we know that Koreans both North and South do have quite a dislike for the Japanese. Which is not surprising  considering 35 years of brutal occupation from 1910 to 1945.

Most far eastern countries, China, Japan The two Korea’s their populations are as mentioned “homogeneous”.  Xenophobic may be too harsh a word…maybe not. In any event she did immigrate from a country that does value its racial purity.

She is oblivious that 68 years ago solders from many western nations (the vast majority I suspect were “white”) saved South Korea from being overrun by the Communist North. Who knows, instead of being indoctrinated in race hatred at UC Berkeley and Harvard law school, she could now be eating rats in one of North Korea’s notorious Prison Camps, or a guard administering the beatings.

The “White people” especially the old “White men” of the Democrat party either agree with her or are too frighten to speak out. They better keep looking over their shoulder.  Their turn will come.

Now we come to the Democrat (Socialist) Party.

Constitution? What Constitution.

This is what happens if you escape the plantation.

Candace Owens, along with Charlie Kirk, was shouted out of a restaurant in Philadelphia by a group of antifa thugs. Apparently, it’s now OK (again) for Democrats to harass black women in restaurants. What will be next, burning a cross on her lawn?

What do Democrats in Vermont think about this? Do they not dare speak up…or do they approve?

I wonder?

Are school teachers educating or indoctrinating ?

Well in Minnesota it looks like the latter

As teachers perused booths retailing titles such as “Marxist Education,” “A World to Win, the Life and Works of Karl Marx,” and “How Capitalism Underdeveloped Black America,” some attendees questioned the legitimacy of the union as a representative body. As one vendor put it, “do you really think that the average joe, like a normal guy just off the street would come in here and be like yeah- this is what I think a teachers union should look like?”

A sampling of books at the convention.

Teachers on the march for open borders.

These people teach our children and you taxpayer pay for it.

Marxism, socialism, communism, has brought nothing but poverty misery, and death besides robbing people of their liberty.

Ah, but we’ve never had the right people in charge, this time we’ll get it right.

There were a few brave souls there

Exhibitors at the only 4 conservative leaning booths such as this one reported facing aggression from their fellow union members.

Fortunately not all teacher are deranged libs

But thanks to the 5-4 ruling in the Janus  v. AFSCME decision by the Supreme Court more then a few teachers are breathing a sigh of relief.

“The average teacher joins a union because they want job protection from the whim of administration going AWOL,” says yet another anonymous teacher from California, afraid of union retribution should his name be distributed. Unfortunately, this idea that unions should exist for the protection of jobs has fallen by the wayside in the age of #Resist and #AbolishIce.

Fortunately, things are beginning to look up for teachers who just want to do their job with the recent 5-4 decision of the Supreme Court on Janus v. AFSCME. This ruling affirms for the first time that public sector employees are not required to give their hard earned dollar to a labor union. For teachers like Paul or Christine, this means that freedom from the hyper political unions can now become a reality.

It’s no different here in Vermont, rather then the teach the three “R’s  it’s how to be a S.W.J.

If I could say just two words to the youth of America…Venezuela, Look!!!!

It’s happening right before your eyes.
