Courage on display

Vivek Ramaswamy…

Nails it in this speech at the California Republican Party (apparently they haven’t been outlawed…yet). It’s a very compelling explanation of why America is tearing itself apart today.

It a little over 30 min. long but well worth it.

Oh Canada!!

As most people know “The New York Times” has a statement in its masthead: “All the news that’s fit to print”. It’s been there for a long time. But its true meaning has always been this, ‘All the news that “we decide” is fit to print.

It isn’t what they report that counts, It’s what they don’t.

I don’t often read the local newspapers. When I go to the local supermarket and pass by the newspaper rack I’ll lean over and glance at the headlines. My sample is small and unscientific but it seems that very little is reported on the trucker’s freedom protest in Canada.

I did read this online line at Yahoo news.

“Though the rally has been mostly peaceful*, police have expressed concern about extremist rhetoric coming from far-right groups among the protesters. As well as reported racial and homophobic abuse, some danced on the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier at the National War Memorial.

Nearly 80 criminal investigations have been opened in relation to the protests, including for alleged hate crimes and property damage. Some two dozen people have been arrested.”

(*This was what the media called “mostly peaceful” in the summer of 2020. One would think this is Canada’s version of January 6th.)

The corporate media (here and in Canada) has chosen sides, in what it decides to report, the spin it will put on it, and what it decides to ignore.

All hail the Truckers of Canada.

Trucker revolt in the great white north

This is a story I heard from my mother long ago.

I have a somewhat stubborn relative. He has an aversion to being “told” what to do, even if common sense says that you should. Vermont makes wearing your seatbelt mandatory, If law enforcement spots you not wearing one they can pull you over and give you a ticket and you’ll likely end up paying a fine. In neighboring New Hampshire it’s only encouraged as “common sense for all”.  Living on the Connecticut River people drive between states all the time, My mother said that he would purposely not wear his seatbelt in Vermont but as soon as he crossed the river into New Hampshire he would put it on. It was one of his quirks.

This is my feeling towards “the jab(s)”. Full discloser, I’ve had them. They should be available to anyone who “wants” them. But in many cases, circumstances arise with employers and/or travel plans and people have to make choices, either take “the jab” or lose their employment or other opportunities.

I am not against vaccines, I’m against making them mandatory.

What’s happening now in Canada kind of reminds me of this.
