Socialist States of America?
And Vermont wants to be one.
In 1924 Joseph Stalin and Nikolia Bukharin proposed the policy of Socialism in one Country
The theory held that given the defeat of all the communist revolutions in Europe in 1917–1923 except Russia, the Soviet Union should begin to strengthen itself internally. This turn toward national communism was a shift from the previously held position by classical Marxism that socialism must be established globally
Deep blue States such as California, Oregon, Washington, Illinois, New York, Massachusetts, Virginia et.al have large urban population that have been ruled for decades by democrats. In schools and colleges across America, not just blue States, at least four generations have been educated indoctinated in leftist political thought. That despite many historical examples of the utter failure and cruelty of Socialism it still holds a fatal attraction for far too many young people. The excuse is that it just never been properly implemented. But they all know that if anyone can make Socialism work Bernie can.
In the past Marxism’s “raison d’etre” was class struggle. The Proletariat vs. the Bourgeoisie, and the only way that humanity could move on to a fair, equal, and classless society was the overthrow of Capitalism. From each according to his abilities,” and giving “to each according to his needs”. Sounds wonderful doesn’t it. Who could argue with that. Except that would you want some apparatchik of the new ruling class deciding for you what your abilities and needs are?
America’s free market capitalism and its commitment to “life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness” of the individual blew away the idea of class consciousness. A man or woman can rise as fast and as far as their God given talent (and ambition) will take them. A “Blue collar” worker can earn more then a “white collar worker“. Make something people want and you could become a millionaire. But is that “fair” to someone else who chose to piss his life away?
At this point in time thanks to President Donald Trump the American economy is roaring, and unemployment is at historically low levels. The Socialist Democrat Party Presidential candidates cannot run on the economy. It can only run on identity politics, open bordors, free healthcare, free education, but the crown jewell is “CLIMATE CHANGE”!
According to the doomsayer’s the end is near. So it stands to reason that very drastic action will need to be taken. According to Bernie, oil company executives are criminals who need to be jailed. So it’s plain to see that radical enviromentalism and Marxist totalitarianism compliment each other perfectly. With so little time left to “save the planet” maximum State enforcement power i.e. telling people how they will live their lives by threat of arrest and imprisionment is going to be required. Like Chairman Mao’s Red Guards the Left has a Green Guard of indoctrinated youth who with a little encouragement could morph into this.
Since they know it’s a long shot that either Comrade Bernie, Fauxcahontis, crazy Uncle Joe, Buttplug, or the billionaire boys Tom S. and Mike B. are going to be elected President, so the Green New Deal will not be implemented on a federal level any time soon. That means that it will up to individual States to implement it their own.
Which is exactly what Sen.Anthony Pollina P/D Wash. intends to do.
Under the plan, which will be offered in January by Sen. Anthony Pollina, P/D-Washington, the state would raise an additional $30 million in income tax from the top 5% of earners for five years.
The funds would then be used to make investments in home weatherization and renewable heating systems, expand electric vehicle usage and help overhaul the state’s public transit system.
Don’t worry, they’re only going to squeeze the “rich” bastards “who can afford it”. After all what’s a little wealth re-distribution. Why they’ll even smile while their bending over. After all there is a “planet to save”.
But average and low income Vermonters won’t be let off the hook.
Enter the Carbon Tax.
For example, the current proposal for Vermont under the Transportation and Climate Initiative (TCI) is to add 5-18 cents per gallon in tax to Vermonters’ fuels. Proponents argue that this gas tax will “incentivize” citizens to drive less: a sin tax. But who in the world thinks that an 18-cent-per-gallon “incentive” will curb consumption? Advocates argue that it is axiomatic that a higher cost will reduce consumption — but gas averaged $3.99/gallon nationally in May 2011, and is now only about $2.60.
A degree in rocket science is unnecessary to see where this leads. Once the 18 cents per gallon (presented now as a mere pittance) fails to impact consumption behaviors, the progressives will be back, explaining that the tax must be raised to achieve that goal — even though many low-income Vermonters are already squeezed to breaking point and use gas to travel to work. The question then becomes how much legislators tax Vermonters to “save the planet.” But the tax will only go up, always with the moral clarion call of saving the children.
I don’t have much faith in our rino Governor being able to stop this. Vermonters voted in a one party legislature that can basically do whatever it wants and has the votes to override the Governor if He should dare veto their legislation.
People living within 20 miles of the Conneticut River might have an option and N.H. gas station owners will be more then happy to help.
But the madness will go on for the forseeable future.
“Inside every progressive is a Totalitarian screeming to get out”.
