When one generation gets old they often reminisce about the times when they were young.  I was born at the beginning of the age of television. Black and white and only two channels, on ABC, the other CBS. Cable and NBC didn’t arrive on my street until 1966.   We didn’t have dial phones, party lines still existed.  Standard shift meant cars with a clutch and you had to move a stick to shift. The sound system was an AM radio,  FM was an option, as was A/C. The most modern office equipment was a electric typewriter.  Needed a copy? That’s what carbon paper was for.

For our Parents the technological advancements that occurred in the 60’s were nothing short of amazing, (We landed on the moon for crying out loud)  compared  to the times  of their youth in the 1920’s and 30’s.  But airplanes and radio existed then, not for their parents who still used the horse and buggy.

The same holds true today for us baby boomers.  The internet, laptop computers, cell phones, and flat screen T.V’s to name a few examples.

But while technology has progressed in quantum leaps, something else has regressed.  Our love and desire for freedom.  That, along with moral relativism which has all but destroyed societies ability and desire to state unequivocally what is right and what is wrong.

It seems to me that millennials, unlike us old fogies have no concept of history.  It’s like the world was created the day they were born.  And their corruption by  government run schools and colleges has been very through.

They’re just such little snowflakes. They start to melt whenever their worldview is questioned. Being pro-life on campus is just the latest.

They want everything to be “free”, free college, free healthcare, free from worry. free from ideas they don’t agree with.  Make the “rich” pay for it. They want to be sheep, to be taken care of.  What they fail to realize is that sheep require shearing.  and sometimes led to slaughter. But it will never be them, always those other people.

According to Wikipedia Arlo is now a registered Republican. Was a Ron Paul supporter, and is a believer in the Constitution.  He’s disappointed in both political parties. As am I.

Arlo remembers a time and place when “littering” was considered a major crime and Tricky dick didn’t get away with it.  But today if you have a “D” by your name you can.   It’s the Democrats who want to shred the Constitution.

Arlo remembers what it was like when he was young. Millennials  can’t conceive of getting old, or ever considering that they might be wrong.

Troubling times indeed.

Rush Limbaugh stated back in 2008, “I hope he fails”.  Sorry Rush. Obama is succeeding beyond his wildest dreams with a big help from a craven Republican party.

 

For the President:   “I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully execute the office of President of the United States, and to the best of my ability preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution of the United States.”

For the Supreme Court:  “I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will administer justice without respect to persons and do equal right to the poor and to the rich, and that I will faithfully and impartially discharge and perform all the duties incumbent upon me as _____under the Constitution and laws of the United States; and that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I Will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter. So help me God.” 

For Congress: “I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any metal reservation or purpose of evasion; and I will faithfully discharge the duties of the office I am about to enter. So help me God.”

The domestic enemies of the Constitution are the Progressives, and Democrats. Like the Ten Commandants, the Constitution is full of “Shall Not’s” that are meant to limit the power of government.

Obama and his minions  hate the Constitution, and wish to shred it. Their oaths mean nothing to them.

This is especially true for 4 members of the Supreme Court.

And the Republicans oaths mean nothing also,  because they’re afraid to defend it.

We live in dangerous times.

 

 

Three stories about sexual assault, a heinous crime if there ever was one. It’s when a man male choses to debase himself, to throw off any pretense of civilized behavior and wallow in abject debauchery.  Then offers lame excuses about being intoxicated, or it’s the culture,  and everyone was doing it.  In the Stanford case this was Brock Turner’s excuse. http://www.nytimes.com/2016/06/09/us/brock-turner-blamed-drinking-and-promiscuity-in-sexual-assault-at-stanford.html

In Nashville another case of student athletes behaving badly.

In both cases the evidence was overwhelming, witnesses and video. Of course one was white, the others black. The parameters of the cases being that separate states have different rules.  One judge had leeway, on didn’t.

For some people it’s apparent that “NOTHING” is beneath them.

Of course there is one group that will always get a pass, especially in Europe. At the speed and the direction were going it won’t be long before it will be the same here.

Closer to home two sex assault charges were dropped against Sen. Mcallister due to inconsistences  in the accusers latest testimony and previous accounts. He still faces four more charges from accusations of another woman.

Since there seems to be no extra evidence (video or audio recordings, other witnesses) it boils down to a he said/she said situation. Some people seem to want to put the crime of sexual assault in a special category were the burden of proof is placed on the accused to prove his innocents from the presumption that he’s guilty.  The majority of the state senate already believe he is.

Kris Lukens director of Voices Against Violence said “it is common for victims of trauma to confuse the details of what happened to them”. That may be so,  but when we’re talking serious prison time, the defendant and his counsel have to do whatever they’re legally and ethically allowed to do to counter the accusations.

I don’t know if Sen. Mcallister  is guilty or innocent.  All I know that if I was accused of assault and the only evidence was someone’s word, and with the distinct possibility of a long prison term,  and I was innocent, I would have to pull out all the stops to defend myself.  I’m allergic to prison.  But like Sen.  Mcallister,  where does one go to get their reputation back?
