Three stories about sexual assault, a heinous crime if there ever was one. It’s when a man <\/del> male choses to debase himself, to throw off any pretense of civilized behavior and wallow in abject debauchery.\u00a0 Then offers lame excuses about being intoxicated, or it’s the culture,\u00a0 and everyone was doing it.\u00a0 In the Stanford case this was Brock Turner’s excuse. http:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2016\/06\/09\/us\/brock-turner-blamed-drinking-and-promiscuity-in-sexual-assault-at-stanford.html<\/a><\/p>\n

In Nashville another case of student athletes behaving badly.<\/p>\n

In both cases the evidence was overwhelming, witnesses and video. Of course one was white, the others black. The parameters of the cases being that separate states\u00a0have different rules.\u00a0\u00a0One judge had\u00a0leeway, on didn’t.<\/p>\n

And an outrage I just heard today.https:\/\/www.yahoo.com\/news\/man-accused-groping-13-old-130006872.html<\/a><\/p>\n

For some people it’s apparent that “NOTHING” is beneath them.<\/p>\n

Of course there is one group that will always get a pass, especially in Europe. At the speed and the direction were going it won’t be long before it will be the same here.<\/p>\n

Closer to home two sex assault charges were dropped against Sen.\u00a0Mcallister due to inconsistences\u00a0 in the accusers latest testimony and previous accounts. He still faces four more charges from accusations of another woman.<\/p>\n

Since there seems to be no extra evidence (video or audio recordings, other witnesses) it boils down to a he said\/she said situation. Some people seem to want to put the crime of sexual assault in a special category were the burden of proof is placed on the accused to prove his innocents from the presumption that he’s guilty.\u00a0 The majority of the state senate already\u00a0believe he is.<\/p>\n

Kris Lukens director of Voices Against Violence said “it is common for victims of trauma to confuse the details of what happened to them”. That may be so,\u00a0 but when\u00a0we’re talking serious prison time, the defendant and his counsel have to do\u00a0whatever they’re legally and ethically allowed to do to counter the accusations.<\/p>\n

I don’t know if Sen. Mcallister\u00a0 is guilty or innocent.\u00a0 All I know that if I was accused of assault\u00a0and the only evidence was someone’s word, and\u00a0with the distinct possibility of a long prison term,\u00a0 and I was innocent, I would have to pull out all the stops to defend myself.\u00a0 I’m allergic to prison.\u00a0 But\u00a0like Sen. \u00a0Mcallister,\u00a0 where does one go to get their reputation back?<\/p>\n
